a take on Trolleys
I find it interesting how we decide whether we would take negative public scrutiny or negative guilt, such as in the trolley problem hypothetical circumstance.if you remain passive or save the people on the trolley determine the consequence. If you choose the trolley you get negative public scrutiny for being an active participant. If you remain passive and the trolley hits the man and everyone dies you don't have public scrutiny you have negative guilt. Public scrutiny, people don't like you for the rest of your life or you live with the guilt of death on your hands and then you start looking at it from another perspective, are you out for personal gain. If the trolley hits the man and everyone dies you have a better personal gain, because you don't have to be shunned, but the one where you save the people in the trolley. you lived knowing you did the right thing and saved the most people, but nobody will see it that way.
