Tristan Maclean Swims
Majoring in a bachelor of science graphic design degree and Associates in Technical Computers with an emphasis on user interface, minoring in photography and mass communications. I want to create my wacky ideas as best as I can and be able to get a designated emotion or engagement from viewers, I think of art as a form of entertainment for the Artist and a medium like any other format to story tell and drive narrative.
I like the idea of puzzles within abstract which is what i make with many of my paintings, photos and illustrations. I think if an artist derives entertainment from their own work, an audience will get entertainment also, regardless if they like or hate the art piece. its about retention at the end of day, will they come back to hate or like it again, what makes retention go up is a question I study through analytics. Its something I believe all artists should study in the digital ad age and experimentation with art styles is a big part of it, even if you're primarily a designer who works in a genre like I am. I like horror and humor, the two h's of strange agreement.
Art is anyone's game and I don't expect everyone to like my art, but i feel i'll be respected more for the amount of work I'm willing to put in, and I believe In the mindset of anyone can enjoy it, not that everyone should enjoy it. I want to make enough variety in my content, where someone can connect to a certain style or emphasis in one or maybe multiple's of my work. It's essential to understand what works and what doesn't and that's the key for progression, which gives you more opportunities to take advantage of and gain ad revenue.
I also like to do Front end Web Design and development, I think of all creational activities with the creation of narrative as art. I think for it to be good art it needs to have narrative or something for the viewer to solve, and figure out what is going on in the art piece. right now i'm focusing my time on creating assets, but I do designate that I have initiative to work anywhere within the technical communication field regardless if its designing art work, or assets for video, print, interactive media, games or backend, frontend web development. My ultimate goal is to eventually work my way up to an Art Director position.
