Why does he/she create that? why do that hipster shit? Why make all of the supernatural and depressing work? why go to school for that, you could have been a doctor or a lawyer? Why work so hard on this strange crap?
Creation exists in all mediums and making bare basic things expand into bigger things, and you learn from every thing you make.
It isn't a hipster who creates products. A hipster is a term for people who like things that are irrelevant . A dslr isn't irrelevant because of the pixel count and you can use images in modern day with technology in so many more ways than a simple picture, all those textures you see in cgi, their created by pictures implanted on objects by designated location. Everything you see in media, and print has a form of something from the graphic field because most things use images or illustrations, when automation takes the job of an employees, a person like me will have their job for a longer time until robots or artificial intelligence can grasp all ideas of creation and design. The fields really relevant today and the things people associate with hipster ideology is old stuff, or old ways being used, meanwhile the 21st century wants to escape to the 80's so bad that I wouldn't be surprised if supermodels start wearing shoulder pads again. Now even Stephen king movies like 'It' have replaced their 60's setting with the 80's because that's when good shit happened and people innovated with new technology, directing and in my opinion streets filled with neon from diners and theaters are a lot more easy on the eyes than a street light cluttered with cob webs in a modern setting, with that said I think we need to be creative in the present, nothing is new, its all pop culture and all the media corporations who went leap and bounds from the 70's and 80's are dying from a lack of it because their worried about profit margin. I have high hopes for some of the movies coming out this year that might push more creativity in the spot, like "Dune" for instance a book that had a crappy adaptation back in the 80's is now looking good in modern day. The reason I'm such a horror fan is that horror projects will be made regardless if the mass wants them or not, and new creativity in the subject keeps spawning.
People hate film cameras, until a 4k video exists from the 80's that could destroy any digital essence because film can be enlarged almost as if it were a vector file, meanwhile pixel distortion is a big problem. That why milometer film still lives in Hollywood and movies that have a high budget still use them. Its why the ratio from 480p fat back crt tvs transitioned so well to those big ass 4k flat screens.
I believe depressing work relates to people, it shows people that their experience isn't singular and its happened to many people. Supernatural and Science work doesn't study how things are, but the inner working of how we interpret the world. How things could get easier, worse, or how things seem to the naked eye.
Doctors and Lawyers, is the first thing everybody goes to. I'd rather have a lower income and do something I like to do, graphic design isn't low grade pay, hell, if you go into user interface, you could make six figures and or if your an art director, or you real good at 3d modeling, or simply if your good at selling your art at art shows.
the longer a project is the longer time an artist can take to adapt and change his creations. If you push stuff out there, which I have before you always get this failure feeling. I think my earlier art is of course worse than my newer art because as I get use to the process of trying new ways to get projects done, I feel more accomplished when they look how I want them too and yeah their strange but I like the niche community I create within, I know what my community is and they like strange art too.
